Discovery World is a European television network known as Discovery Civilisation from 1999 - 2008. Discovery World offers an experience of the very best factual programming from around the globe. Discovery World showcases a rich and colourful selection of high quality factual programmes from around the globe, with different genres. Discovery World offers compelling mix of history, culture, real life stories, investigation and mystery shows.

The channel started out as Discovery Civilisation in 1999 and focused on history-related programmes. On April 18, 2008, the channel changed its name and extended its programming lineup to also include programmes about culture, crime and "mysterious phenomena".[1][2] From March 1, 2011 Discovery World Italy will be visible in the Mediaset Premium with BBC Knowledge Italy.
